Lacho Drom Indie Bar

This project involves the complete interior and exterior design of a hospitality venue housed in a former ground-floor building near the archaeological site of Larissa. The design was radical, aiming to create a cafe-bar with a strong identity inspired by Balkan and Gypsy cultural references.

The name “Lacho Drom” served as the conceptual foundation for the development of a space rich in color and atmosphere. The interior is defined by warm terracotta and green tones, gold details, a wooden ceiling draped with hanging fabrics, and a variety of framed artworks, evoking a sense of theatricality and warmth.

A focal point of the space is the custom wooden bar, painted in dark green and framed by a lightweight shelving structure for bottles and decorative objects. Above the bar, retro-style hanging lights enhance the ambiance, establishing a distinct lighting rhythm throughout the space.

At the back, next to the window, a raised wooden platform was designed to function as a small stage for live music. The lighting alternates between wall-mounted fixtures, chandeliers, and subtle plant-lit spots, shaping an expressive yet welcoming environment.

The outdoor area adopts a more casual and relaxed aesthetic. High tables and dining tables are paired with wooden and colorful chairs, while select walls are painted in hues that echo the interior, albeit in lighter and brighter tones. Soft lighting with hanging string lights completes the calm and friendly atmosphere of the “Lacho Drom” courtyard.
